serious about singing
Severn Voices chamber choir was founded by William Coleman in 2011 with members who pride themselves on producing top-quality sounds across
an unusually varied and challenging repertoire. Made up of around twenty adults, the choir is extremely passionate about choral music and committed to being the best. |
The choir’s strength is the combination of the enthusiasm and commitment to the wide and ever-increasing range of
music which we perform. If you are a singer and you already sing in a choir, then do please come and try us out! Severn Voices meets at St. Clement's Primary School, St. Clements, Worcester, every Monday from 7.30 – 9.30 p.m. |
The choir takes the River Severn as its inspiration. The Romans treated it with respect (it is the most dangerous river in England) giving it the Latin name Sabrina. The Severn is capable of astonishing changes of scale, as witnessed in the floods of 2007. The choir aims to be as changeable and capricious as the river; covering a varied repertoire of music and finding inspiration in the music of the many composers who have lived near the Severn – Edward Elgar, Herbert Howells, Hubert Parry and Vaughan Williams to name just a few.
